Bracewell Library is a new public library located in Southeast Houston. The library has a beautiful curtain wall that wraps the majority of the building to allow for natural light throughout the interior. The major focal point of the library is the large clearstory windows that hold the slanted metal roof. The architectural detailing of the structure can be seen in all areas of the public areas in the library due to the open structure. Distinctive horizontal lines cover the envelope of the building that draw your view around the building, the lines are part of the metal panel, curtain wall, and brick materials. The library features children and teen areas that have built-in Wii gaming systems, computer stations, and comfortable reading areas. This was a LEED certified project.
